According to the Auto Care Association, the Product Classification Database (PCdb) is intended to design, populate, and implement a database for coded hierarchical terminology describing replacement parts, service items and supplies commonly sold in the aftermarket industry.
The PCdb enables you to find the proper terminology for the parts that you sell. For example, 'brake pads' are 'disc brake pads' in the database. When you properly list your parts, customers will be able to find your products more efficiently. Additionally, certain parts use a 'position' where the part fits on the vehicle. It's essential that your customer is able to identify the position that the part fits (i.e. left front, front catalytic converter, etc.)
The ACA updates the database monthly, therefore we'll notify users if their part terminology has been changed or if updates to the part's position has been made.
To access our PCdb Viewer, a component of the PCFitment Auto Care Database Viewer, simply navigate to the main menu located at the top of your home page and click 'More Features' and 'Database Lookup'
Once in the Database Lookup, click on the 'Part Type Category Lookup' tab. You can begin populating the list by selecting a 'Category Name' and can further filter down by a sub-category and the Part Terminology. When you click 'Search', your PCdb report will generate.
