We have introduced a new feature in the PCFitment, “Inherited Parts”. It means whenever you need the same fitments across multiple parts, you do not need to add fitments in all parts. Just add a part and its fitments and add the inherited part like below.
Before you begin, please note: The part you wish to add as an "Inherited Part" must not have any existing fitments.
- If the part is new, you can proceed immediately.
-
If the part already exists in your account and has fitments, you must delete those fitments before you can link it as an inherited part.
Step 1: Select Your Parent Part
- Navigate to My Parts & Fitment.
-
Locate the part that contains the master list of fitments (this will be your "Parent Part").
- Click on the part to open the Part Information page.
Step 2: Access the Inherited Parts Tab
- On the Part Information page, you will see several tabs (Fitments, Inherited Parts, eBay Specific, etc.).
- Click on the Inherited Parts tab.
Note: The screen will display a notice reminding you that fitments for inherited parts are controlled entirely by this main parent part.
Step 3: Add an Inherited Part
There are two ways to add a part here, depending on whether the part already exists in your system or if it is brand new.
Option A: Add an Existing Part
- Select the Part Type (Required) from the dropdown menu.
- In the Manufacturer Part Number field, type to search for the part you want to link.
- Select the part number.
-
Click the green Add button.
- Result: The part will appear in the grid below. It is now linked.
Option B: Create and Add a New Part (New Feature)
If the part doesn't exist in your system yet, you can create it right from this screen:
- Select the Part Type.
- Click the Blue Plus (+) button next to the Manufacturer Part Number field.
-
A pop-up window labeled "Add Part & Fitments" will appear.
-
Fill in the required details:
- Manufacturer Part Number
- Brand Name
- ASIN (if applicable)
- Click Add Part.
- Now, Select the Part Type (Required) from the dropdown menu.
- In the Manufacturer Part Number field, type to search for the part you want to link.
- Select the part number.
-
Click the green Add button.
- Result: The part will appear in the grid below. It is now linked.
When you open the Inherited Part, it will show a window like below.[ eg here i open the part number f-34
How to Manage Fitments for Inherited Parts
Once a part is linked as "Inherited," you cannot edit its fitments directly.
-
If you click on an Inherited Part to view its details, you will see a banner message:
"Fitments for Part# [Name] are inherited from Parent Part# [Parent Name]." -
To Make Changes:
- You must go back to the Parent Part.
- Add, Update, or Delete fitments on the Parent Part.
- These changes will automatically reflect on ALL linked inherited parts instantly.
Key Benefits
- Add fitments once to the Parent Part, and all linked parts update automatically.
- Keeps fitment data identical across all product variations (e.g., colors/sizes).
- Any update to the Parent Part is instantly applied to all inherited parts.
- Eliminates the risk of missing updates on individual part variations.
Once you submit all the fitments to Amazon & Walmart, all inherited parts will be submitted with their parent part fitments.
